Attaches heavy gauge 20-8 ga. metal to metal. Hex head framing screw used in heavy gauge metal to metal applications where high torque is required.

Hydrogen Embrittlement:
Grabber’s 10-, 12-, and 14-gauge zinc-plated drill point fasteners are plated as prescribed in the ASTM F1941-10 Standard Specification for Electrodeposited Coatings on Threaded Fasteners, and post-plating baked according to the process articulated in SAE AMS 2759/9, Hydrogen Embrittlement Relief (Baking) of Steel Parts, Section 3.3.3.1, and SAE J78, which calls for a four-hour minimum time for baking out entrapped hydrogen after acid treating the parts.

Installation Guidelines

Use a standard screwgun with a depth-sensitive nose piece. Suggested screwgun specification for optimal performance RPM range of 0 to 2,500. Because of significantly higher torque output, care and caution should be exercised when using an impact driver, otherwise screw failure or spin out may occur.

 

  • The hex head is fully seated when the head is flush with the work surface.
  • Overdriving my result in fastener failure or strip out of the work surface.
  • The fastener must penetrate beyond the metal three full thread pitches.

Recommended Application

For heavy gauge steel-to-steel attachment 43 mil (18ga) or thicker.
